Wrangell St Elias National Park Canoe Trip Day 2

Our first actually day of canoing. After lugging all our equipment a good long distance from the landing, we inflated the canoes, packed, and we’re ready to go!

Canoe Inflated

I spent the next 8 days in that front seat.

Deep River

We quickly discovered that the river wasn’t all that deep.

The first day kept teasing us with rain though it never came down too hard. A lot of time, and I mean a lot of time was spent navigating the braids, getting out and dragging the canoes.

First Night's Camp

First night’s camp, note how large the river valley is. Later in the trip, the whole thing condenses down to a hundred yards or so.
