October 4,2007 Marks 50 years in Space

When Sputnik took off 50 years ago, the world gazed at the heavens in awe and apprehension, watching what seemed like the unveiling of a sustained Soviet effort to conquer space and score a stunning Cold War triumph.


Awesome. We’ve come so far, so quickly. And in other 50, we’ll have gone to even greater heights.

The evolution of the space program continues to be dramatic. In a decade or so, it will be hardly recognizable.
